Ray Edwards MBE
Chairman & Managing Director“The Limbcare Centre has been my vision ever since I became a quad Amputee in 1987 and it would be a dream come true if it became a reality”
Ray Edwards MBE : Inspiring people Through Motivational & Inspirational Speaking
Ray can very well understand the difficulties of people who are less able, as he has been a quad amputee since 1987 and is always available to offer his advice in an empathetic way. Ray’s knowledge of the building industry, helped him to design his own accessible home and he can pass on that knowledge to you.
Ray, born in 1954, over came difficulties having had cancer in 1981. In 1987 all four limbs were amputated due to blood poisoning. In 1992 he married his angel Fiona and now has two lovely daughters. Along with Nicola & Taya, Ray has found hope and support with my other children Michael, Diana & Christopher. Finally in 2005 he suffered a heart attack. This has not deterred Ray as he has since become a leading light at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton and is an access consultant, offering advice on all access problems in the homes and public buildings to create a better environment for the disabled and elderly and giving hope to many others.
In November 2007, Ray was awarded ‘The Douglas Bader Inspiration Award’ of which he is very proud.
Ray has also formed Ray Inspires as a way of inspiring people through motivational and inspirational speaking. At a recent event a Consultant Prosthetics said, "Listening to Ray's life story uncovers a human strength, belief, will, motivation and inspiration to myself and many other people-abled and not so abled. We were honoured to have Ray at our company."
Roy Wright
Support Line, Media and PR Director After amputation in august 2009 I was left wondering what i was going to with my life.
I was in the building and demolition industry before and I knew I would not be climbing on rooftops again. Having met Ray at Roehampton it was easy to see that I could still do almost anything I wanted, and to make the change to PR and Media Director for Limbcare has been a challenge and an honour.

Barry Perrin
Fundraising & Liaison Manager.I met Ray Edwards, a totally inspirational man, a real admiral to the charity and now a great friend too. We do a lot of fund raising events, have a lot of fun together and make others have a giggle too!! I was fortunate enough to meet Candy, just by chance really, we became friends over several months and then we realised how we felt about each other and have been an item ever since.
I now have the feeling that for all the truly professional treatment that I have had throughout the various stages of my amputation and rehabilitation, that I would like to give something back to the people and the society. I am now a Fundraising and Events Co-ordinator for Limbcare and with the knowledge that I have gained through my own disability, will continue to offer inspiration, hope and motivation to other amputee’s before, during and after the rehabilitation.

I have had the pleasure to have known and worked with Ray for over 25 years. Over that time I have seen how Ray has been such a inspiration to a great many people, certainly including me. Ray’s ability to overcome his own disabilities and spend his life helping others to do the same is truly remarkable.
My background over that period of time is in the Research, Development and Design of products to make life easier and offer more independence and dignity for people with disabilities of all kinds. I am very proud to be associated with Ray, Limbcare and the team.
