Well what a journey I have been on , having had cancer in 1981, amputations on all 4 limbs in 1987, and a Heart attack in 2005, never in my wildest dreams had I thought I would be honored by receiving an MBE from Her Majesty The Queen.

I am so proud and Friday was a very special day. Early start for my darling wife Fiona and two of my daughters Nicola and Taya.,   Ian brought the car round at 8am , the journey to Windsor Castle was faultless and the weather was perfect, I must admit I was nervous but it was probable with excitement.

On entering the Castle we climbed the Stair case with Soldiers either side , I had never felt so important and completely overwhelmed, my Wife and family were then ushered into the main Hall. 

I was then taken to a picture gallery room to meet with other recipients, we were all apprehensive and listened intensely to the protocol of the event. One by one our names were called and eventually I heard mine. In convoy we were led to the entrance of the investiture room and in turn was told to wait until name is called and then proceed to bow head and step forward to meet  Her Majesty- Wow no words can describe the elation and true honour of that moment when you are invested with an award and to know my family were only a few rows away. Fantastic.

Then afterwards official Photographs were taken. 
Return from Windsor to Hotel on Runnymede to celebrate with the rest of my family Diana and Chris  along with dear friends. This day will stay in my memory for ever a truly fabulous experience and I am so pleased I shared it with my closest friends.

Thank you to everyone especially my wife Fiona for arranging the celebration lunch and for putting up with me for 19 years ,she should have received an award, my children for their support, Ian for taking care of us on the journey, Roy for filming the event from start to finish and everyone who has been part of my life's journey.
