On the 28th January this year a wonderfull and plucky lady (Kit Connell) celebrated her 100th birthday!!!

Kit is a double amputee and is still going strong.

Kits daughter Pamela contacted Limbcare last year asking for help in tracking down a company that could supply a wheelchair accessible vehicle to take Kit to celebrate her birthday with her
family and friends, after several enquiries we managed to get one for her and organised it on our behalf.

Kit had a wonderful day and is very grateful for our help as are her family.

A SOLDIER left a prisoner in his sixth-floor council flat after Losing three limbs at war has been offered help getting a new home and £150,000 to adapt it to his needs. Specialist charity Limbcare contacted Private Alex Stringer, 20, and offered to help after the Sunday Mirror exposed his shocking living conditions last week. Wheelchair-bound Alex, almost killed by a Taliban bomb in Afghanistan's Helmand province in January, cannot get into his kitchen or his daughters' bedroom. And when the lifts break down he can't leave home. He and his fiancée Danielle Taylor, 19, who have two young daughters, had been told they face a five-year wait for a more suitable home – a clear breach of the Military Covenant which pledges to give priority to our Armed Forces.

On the 3rd January 2011 the Health Minister Mr Simon Burns said the following: "We remain firmly committed to ensuring that military personnel will continue to receive the standard of prostheses issued by the MOD at Headley Court when they are discharged. Service personnel risk everything in the service of this country and the NHS must provide the first class care that these brave men and women rightly deserve and help to improve their health outcomes." The Secretary of State for Defence, Dr Liam Fox, said:

' Well what a journey I have been on , having had cancer in 1981, amputations on all 4 limbs in 1987, and a Heart attack in 2005, never in my wildest dreams had I thought I would be honored by receiving an MBE from Her Majesty The Queen.
